“Three Wonderful Nights at The Retreat at Amryhouse” – If you are looking for a luxurious, spotlessly clean, attention to detail and extremely quiet get away this is the place for you. We recently spent 3 nights at this beautiful new miner’s cottage which has been lovely built and decorated with top quality décor and having all requirements that one needs when away from home. The extremely comfortable king size bed, seating area and kitchenette is attractive with large separate bathroom being fitted with top quality period features. The only noise one hears is the buzzing of the bees on the lavender bushes around the cottage which is so relaxing when sitting on the verandah soaking up the atmosphere of the formal hedged garden which in Spring has many Russell Lupins in flower. Wallabies and kangaroos are in abundance on the property and many photos were taken by us of these incredible animals.

Amryhouse is halfway between Woodend and East Trentham and we enjoyed dinner at The Plough Pub in Trentham, especially realizing that Tuesday night is local’s night, so a 3-course meal with a glass of wine was $40 per head, excellent menu and delicious food at an extremely reasonable cost.  Dinner was also enjoyed at The Pig and Whistle Pub at East Trentham, 10 minutes from The Retreat, very good pub food, so don’t be put off by the exterior which needs attention.  The owners Mary & Derek are extremely nice and hard working and we felt privileged to be staying in this special place.  I would highly recommend The Retreat to any couples who are looking for a delightful, quiet getaway but on the doorstep of everything this area offers.  Thank you so much Mary and Derek for such a wonderful stay in your gorgeous cottage.  Best Wishes, Gayle and Andy.

What a find! Just spent two wonderfully relaxing nights away from city life at The Retreat at Amryhouse. The well appointed cottage is situated in the most peaceful location, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The appearance of kangaroos added to the absolute charm of the place.
Hosts Mary and Derek have ensured guests will feel spoilt during their stay at The Retreat. Perfection in a Country Retreat – My husband and I spent 2 nights at The Retreat at Amryhouse. The accommodation was beautiful, with so many thoughtful touches from the host. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed a game of tennis just outside our door. Breakfast provisions were very generous and there was an abundance of lovely quality soaps and toiletries in the bathroom. The hosts were incredibly hospitable and friendly. We hope to stay again !!! Amryhouse is the most beautiful house in a very peaceful location. The home was sparkling clean and everything was excellent quality. Breakfast was Continental with many lovely things on offer. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom very roomy. It was a very relaxing escape just out of Woodend and close to Trentham and much to see and do.

Mary and Derek’s place was absolutely perfect! They were very quick and helpful with communication, even giving excellent recommendations for the area. The space was cosy, convenient, and the amenities far exceeded our expectations. We would love to visit again in the future!

Easily one of the best places we have stayed in. It was beautifully snowing and felt absolutely cosy. The amount of subtle luxuries there made it worth it.

My husband & I recently spent a wonderful weekend at The Retreat at Amryhouse. From the moment we arrived, Mary had made sure that everything we needed was provided to ensure our stay would be a memorable one.

The cottage itself was just so cosy, the atmosphere was warm & welcoming & as we had advised Mary the approximate time of our arrival, the chimenea outdoor fire pit was already lit & very inviting.

Can I just say that the king size bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in (both myself & hubby both suffer with back problems), the bed linens were just beautiful & the cleanliness was of the highest standard.

Generous breakfast provisions were provided, more than ample for our two night stay.

The retreat truly was a place to fully unwind & relax, so uniquely Australian to see the kangaroos hoping past you & the sounds of the kookaburra’s in the nearby trees. We certainly would not hesitate to recommend The Retreat at Amryhouse to anyone who is looking for peace & tranquility & a relaxing getaway.

A wonderful cottage surrounded by bush – It was a wonderful 24 hours. Lovely accommodation, with a beautiful outlook. I wouldn’t hesitate to come again. Mary was warm and friendly and available if I needed to know anything. I would highly recommend staying for a real get away.

Beautiful cottage, warm in winter months. Very comfortable bed with electric blanket to warm it up.

Cosy and comfortable. The kangaroos grazing on the property were lovely to watch. A wonderful deep bath. Continental breakfast made the morning super easy. Everything we needed was just there and it meant we could immediately relax. I highly recommend!
